Kevin Danso reveals two signs that Tottenham can grow into ‘a real force’ under Thomas Frank
Kevin Danso has now highlighted two key qualities he believes Tottenham Hotspur need if they are to build on their latest victory over Crystal Palace.
Thomas Frank had to ring the changes in Tottenham Hotspur’s last Premier League game against London rivals Crystal Palace.
Kevin Danso and Lucas Bergvall came into the starting XI in place of suspended Cristian Romero and Xavi Simons following their sending off against Liverpool in gameweek 17.
However, it was Danso who impressed by standing his ground against Jean-Philippe Mateta and helping Tottenham keep a clean sheet as they secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Oliver Glasner’s side.

Reflecting on the physical challenge posed by Palace and his individual duel with Mateta, Danso spoke about the demands of the contest and the satisfaction of coming out on top.
Speaking after the match, he told the official Tottenham channel: “Games like this are always tough. I relish games like that, opponents like that – it has proved over the last few years how much of a good striker he is.
“I am just happy it went our way today, we kept the clean sheet and managed to stop him from scoring.
“It is always the goal for us defenders to keep the ball as far away as possible from our goal and try and keep the clean sheet, and we did that today.
“I think it has given us a lot of confidence, the way we have performed in some of the games over the past few weeks.
“The results are not always going our way, but I think we showed the character and the togetherness we have. Sometimes we have to grind out results like we did today and I feel once we hit that step and we learn to do that consistently, we will be a real tough force.”
What Spurs must build on next
Indeed, being able to grind out results is vital in the Premier League, where every side is capable of beating the other.
However, Spurs need to ensure that grinding out results does not become a regular theme, as it has been for much of the season, where they are often forced into playing on the back foot by their opponent.
Undoubtedly, the result remains important, and the focus now will be on building on this performance and bringing more consistency to their play.
