Record maker: Rio Ferdinand backs one Man United star to achieve what no player ever has

0 0

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has delivered a bold and eye-catching prediction ahead of the decisive second half of the 2025–26 campaign.

Ferdinand said on his YouTube podcast that club captain Bruno Fernandes will smash the 20 goal contributions milestone this season.

Fernandes has already registered 12 goal contributions, with only Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (23) currently ahead of him.

Remarkably, the Portuguese playmaker has achieved those numbers despite operating in a deeper midfield role.

He has created more chances than any other player in the league, underlining his world-class influence from the number eight role.

His set-piece delivery has been consistently deadly, giving United a powerful and reliable attacking weapon.

The 31-year-old is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, but a return to action is expected sometime next month.

We also believe that Fernandes can comfortably add at least ten more goal contributions before the season concludes.

Ferdinand has also tipped the United captain to claim the prestigious Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award once again.

Fernandes has already lifted the trophy on four occasions, matching the legendary tallies of Cristiano Ronaldo and David de Gea.

No player in United’s history has won the award five times, but Ferdinand feels Fernandes could rewrite that record.

Bryan Mbeumo and Matthijs de Ligt are emerging as strong challengers for the honour, given their impressive first-half performances.

Mbeumo has enjoyed a blistering start, scoring seven goals and providing one assist in 17 appearances across all competitions.

De Ligt played every league minute before a back injury brought his impressive run to a halt last month.
