SKIPPER Euan Murray praised his teams togetherness and team spirit after his header helped secure the comeback from 2-0 down against Glasgow rivals Partick Thistle on a chilly afternoon at The City Stadium.
“The biggest strength as a squad is the togetherness and the team spirit, and we showed that in abundance. We probably had opportunities to win the game but, maybe not enough in the end. A wee bit wasteful with the ball when we had the man advantage. But I think if anyone offered us 2-2 each after going 2-0 down, we’d have taken in.”
Murray was pleased to get the equaliser late on in the game to earn a point against The Jags for the first time in over 18 months, but he was also quick to give credit to his teammate Louis Longridge for his perfect delivery.
“It was a brilliant delivery from Louis, and when balls like that come into the box I’ve said a number of times that I back myself to go score goals. Just a wee bit disappointed, angry to a certain extent we couldn’t capitalise and go on to win the game.
“We should’ve stayed calm and worked the ball wide, worked them more but like I said from 2-0 down it’s a decent point.”
As we all as praising Louis for the cross, he gave nod to his centre back partner, Matthew Shiels for his block at the end of the game which prevented The Jags scoring a third. He also touched on the commitment from each player in the game this season.
“Brilliant block, it was unbelievable. That’s the kinda stuff we’ve been so good at all season, it’s putting our body on the line. I think the gaffer speaks about it often enough, you cannot question anyone’s commitment at this club.”
