State of play for COSAFA sides at TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025
The seven COSAFA sides at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 are still mostly in contention for a place in the Round of 16 heading into the decisive third round of group games starting on Monday.

ANGOLA
Angola opened their TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025 Group B campaign with a 2–1 loss to fellow COSAFA side South Africa despite a competitive performance that kept them in the contest for long spells. That was followed by a 1–1 draw against another Southern African rival in Zimbabwe, showing resilience and attacking intent as Gelson Dala found the net before the Warriors equalised. BOTSWANA

That result earned them their first point of the tournament and kept their qualification hopes alive heading into the final round of group matches. Comoros now face Mali on Monday knowing a strong performance could still open the door to progression to the knockout stages.
MOZAMBIQUE
Mozambique have provided one of the standout moments among COSAFA nations at TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025. After a difficult start, they secured a historic 3–2 victory over Gabon, their first ever win at an Africa Cup of Nations finals. That breakthrough result has placed the Mambas firmly in contention for progression from their group and injected belief into the squad ahead of their decisive final group match against Cameroon on Wednesday.
SOUTH AFRICA
South Africa began Group B with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Angola, setting a positive tone early in the tournament. However, they were narrowly beaten 1–0 by Egypt in their second match, leaving them on three points after two games. That result keeps them in contention heading into their final group game against South Africa on Monday.
