Al-Ittihad in contact with Lazio over former Arsenal wing-back Nuno Tavares
Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad are in constant communication with Lazio over the possibility of signing Nuno Tavares.
According to transfer expert Matteo Moretto, the Saudi side have been in contact with the Biancocelesti over the Portuguese wing-back, who has struggled with inconsistency in the Italian capital.
Moretto suggests that Nuno Tavares would move to Saudi Arabia in a heartbeat and Lazio are open to a sale in the January transfer window.
Whilst there is no agreement yet between the clubs, it is described as a ‘hot track’ that is ‘absolutely worth following’.
Lazio market opens up with Nuno Tavares sale as Arsenal anticipate bonus
This news follows the reports that suggest Lazio may finally be able to once again sign players in January.
The Roman side faced a transfer embargo over the summer, which scuppered plans after the return of Maurizio Sarri as head coach.
The Biancocelesti have made do in the first half of the season, even as injuries and suspensions led to a crisis in midfield.
Selling Tavares would give the club a healthy injection of funds to reinvest in more appropriate roles.
And for Arsenal, who Lazio signed the player from on loan with obligation to buy last season, the club are ready to welcome the 40% sell-on clause that was a part of his move to Rome.
