Report: Hampton & Richmond Borough

0 0
The Stones might have taken the lead with just a minute played. Matt Rowley came rushing out of his goal and couldn’t clear the ball. Deon Moore passed to Antony Papadopoulos and his shot was blocked close to the line.
Not long after this, Lexus Beeden whipped in a decent cross. This was met by Taylor Foran and he headed straight at Rowley.
This was the last time there was anything significant to note until the 38th minute. Riley Court’s corner was met by Foran. TJ Bramble stretched to reach the ball but Rowley comfortably gathered it.
Antony Papadopoulos then went on good run which took him into the box. His shot was on target but it went straight at Rowley.
With two minutes of the half remaining, Hampton went close to breaking the deadlock. Charlie Sayer’s excellent cross was flicked goalwards by Reece Grego-Cox and Nathan Harness made a fine save to tip it over the bar.
Early on in the second half, Papadopoulos’ deflected effort had to be turned wide by Rowley. Then not long after this, Papadopoulos kept the ball well close to the edge of the box and he made room for a shot but it went high and wide. And Papadopoulos was involved again when this time his shot from a tight angle was blocked inside the six yard box.
Harness had to be smartly off his line to deny Craig Fasanmade. Then with 10 minutes remaining, Fasanmade’s fierce shot was on target only for Harness to make another decent save and push the ball away from goal.
For the Stones, substitute Dajon Golding got to the by-line and pulled the ball back to David Sesay. Sesay was in a good position inside the box but his effort was wayward. Although Maidstone pushed for a winner in stoppage time, they couldn’t break down the resolute Hampton defence and the game finished goalless.
