Jayson Tatum Drops Truth Bomb On Celtics’ 2024 NBA Finals Victory

The Boston Celtics have surprisingly remained very competitive in the Eastern Conference to begin the 2025-26 campaign, even though they don’t have their best player, Jayson Tatum, at their disposal.

Tatum suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the playoffs last year, which effectively ended the Celtics’ hopes of repeating as champions. In the blink of an eye, serious questions began to pop up regarding Boston’s championship window.

The C’s managed to raise Banner No. 18 after taking down the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 NBA Finals, but they came up short in the 2022 NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors. Winning it all meant quite a bit to Tatum, but he recently revealed that losing in 2022 helped make the team’s championship in 2024 all the more enjoyable.

“We lost in the Finals in 2022, so I know what it felt like to be on the other side and seeing somebody else hold up the trophy and celebrate,” Tatum said on “Morris Code.” “That s*** just meant that much more, because I know what it felt like to lose. We run it back two years later, it just ain’t seem real. That s*** felt like a movie.”

Questions about the Celtics’ championship window have quickly vanished into thin air, thanks to the team’s hot 16-11 start. Considering what they have been able to do without Tatum, though, makes their winning ways all the more worrying for the rest of the league.

Tatum has made it clear he wants to return to action at some point this year, but Boston isn’t going to rush him back into action. In the meantime, the team will look to continue defying expectations, as they will take the court against the Toronto Raptors on Saturday night.
