QUEEN’S PARK ‘keeper Milosz Sliwinski was quick to praise his teammates’ efforts in a tough game against Clyde which saw the Spiders advance to the next round of the KDM Evolution Trophy following a 2-1 win.
He said: “It was a good important win, props to them (Clyde) because they were very direct and they put us under a lot of pressure especially towards the end. But I thought the boys dug in well and made important blocks and we managed to see the game out.
“Rocco had an unbelievable block in the second half because it was a bullet strike and it would’ve definitely caused me some issues so as I said all the boys done really well when it comes to that aspect. I actually think it’s good that we’re able to see those games out as we’ve conceded a couple of late goals in the league games recently and so I was just pleased with all the boys today.”
The 18-year-old showed real composure in between the sticks in his first start of the season and made multiple magnificent stops to keep the Spiders in front, especially nearing the end of the game including a brave save from Clyde’s number one Brian Kinnear.
Here’s what Milosz had to say regarding that save: “As soon as he (Brian Kinnear) jumped up I was a little bit worried, it was a bullet header, but I managed to get onto it and hold it, so it was pleasing towards the end.”
Sliwinski’s heroics towards the end of the game helped Queen’s Park progress through to the round of 16 of the KDM Evolution Trophy where they will face Forfar Athletic on January 6 at The city Stadium.
