Aaron’s hat-trick secures last eight spot

0 0

AARON Williams scored a hat-trick as Colwyn Bay secured a place in the JD Welsh Cup quarter finals with a commanding 3-0 win at Pontypridd United.

Williams had a chance inside two minutes of the game at USW Park in Treforest but volleyed wide of the post before his deflected effort was well gathered by home keeper Cameron Clarke.

Clarke denied Louis Robles while an effort was cleared off the line before Williams finally put Bay ahead on 31 minutes from close range.

Matty Hill fired a shot straight at Clarke while at the other end Tom Gameson put his shot wide of Alex Brown’s post.

Williams doubled Bay’s lead nine minutes into the second half, finishing off a fine move which also involved Robles and Jordan Davies.

Bay could have added to their tally as Sol Forde saw his header from George Hughes’ corner palmed away by Clarke while Davies headed over.

But Williams made no mistake with a header from Hill’s cross to complete his hat-trick and book Bay’s place in Monday’s Televised quarter final draw.

COLWYN BAY: Alex Brown, Issa Kargbo (Jamie Cumming 89), Lewis Sirrell, Sol Forde, Uniss Kargbo (Max McGoona 68),George Hughes, Ethan Roberts, Matty Hill, Jordan Davies (Owen Davies 68), Louis Robles, Aaron Williams (Aron Williams 82). Unused subs: Seb Osment, Nathan Peate, Aeron Edwards
