Tom Brady Reveals What Impresses Him Most About Patriots’ Drake Maye

A lot has changed for the New England Patriots since Tom Brady left after the 2019 season, but some things are still the same.

One of those things is the offensive coordinator, as Josh McDaniels is still calling plays for the Patriots on the sidelines.

Now in his third stint as New England’s offensive coordinator, McDaniels is still good friends with Brady, who discussed him and Drake Maye in an interview with Colin Cowherd this week.

So far, the seven-time Super Bowl champ loves everything he’s seen from and heard about Maye.

“Josh McDaniels is still one of my great friends. I’ve known him for 25 years,” Brady told Cowherd. “He talks about [Maye’s] work ethic, his willingness to get better and improve week in and week out. He’s a sponge for information, and that’s more important for me than what I see on the film.”

Brady spent 23 years in the NFL and got better over time, so he knows the importance of preparation, hard work and constantly trying to improve.

The three-time NFL MVP also revealed what impresses him about Maye’s physical skills.

“With Drake, he has the physical ability, he has the size,” Brady said. “But I think in terms of physical skillset, his downfield passing ability is awesome.”

Maye has one of the best deep balls in the league, so that’s not surprising.

Brady also praised McDaniels for helping Maye improve in his second season and putting him in a position to succeed, similar to how McDaniels helped Brady for much of his career.

McDaniels’ time with Brady paid off, and now it appears to be paying off with Maye as well.
