How Stefon Diggs Could Get $500,000 Richer Sunday Vs. Bills
Stefon Diggs signed his three-year, $63 million contract with the New England Patriots in March. Now 14 weeks into the season, the 32-year-old receiver leads the team in both yards and receptions.
Diggs has caught 64 of his 79 targets for a total of 705 yards and three touchdowns.
Built into the team-friendly first year of his three-year deal are a few season-long incentives. Diggs could hit his first benchmark, a $500,000 bonus that comes at 70 receptions, on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.
Six receptions should be no sweat for the two-time All-Pro, who exploded with a 10 catch, 142 yard game last time he played his former team.
Continuing through the fine print, Diggs can set himself up nicely to meet his next $500,000 benchmark, a 1,000-yard season.
Diggs needs to average 74 yards per game in the final month of the season to generate the 295 yards he needs to reach quadruple digits for the seventh time in his career.
The star wideout also could realistically set his sights on the 80-reception benchmark in his deal as well, which would grant him an additional $500,000.
The ten-catch benchmarks carry all the way up to 100, worth a total of $2 million.
Diggs’ team-friendly deal also includes a potential out after the 2026 season that would get New England off the hook for his $53 million cap hit the next two seasons.
