Red Sox Rival Named As Top Fit To Acquire MacKenzie Gore

The Boston Red Sox could soon see star left-handed pitcher MacKenzie Gore pitching in the American League East.

The Washington Nationals are fielding offers for Gore, and ESPN MLB insider Jesse Rogers expects the left-hander to be traded.

Rogers links the Red Sox’s rivals in the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles as fits, and the insider claims the Orioles are the best fit for Gore.

“Where there is smoke, there is fire, meaning Washington Nationals starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore will be moved,” Rogers wrote in a piece published on Thursday. “His name came up a lot in Orlando, and there are enough motivated teams in part because he’s good and affordable.

“An American League East team, such as the New York Yankees or Orioles, fits for Gore — especially the latter, which might have an extra hitter or two to spare after signing Alonso. Gore fits in Baltimore on several levels.”

If the Orioles can land Gore, it would be a big boost to their roster and make Baltimore a legit threat to the Red Sox to win the AL East.

Gore went 5-15 with a 4.17 ERA in 30 starts last season. He’s a one-time MLB All-Star.

Regardless of what the rest of the AL East does, the Red Sox are likely to make more moves. Boston has been linked to star hitters like Alex Bregman, Bo Bichette, and Eugenio Suarez, among others.
