The Everton Forum • Re: David Moyes
I think he’s doing a good job and will likely earn a contract extension but I still wish he would anticipate issues a bit better and try to solve them before they cost us points.
It shouldn’t take multiple suspensions/injuries to use Dewsbury-Hall in a deeper role when your midfield has been struggling to break lines and move the ball forward all season.
I really want him to break free of some of the creature-of-habit-type behavior so he can get that signature trophy and end his career in style.
I understand that consistency is a part of what makes him successful but it’s hard to win anything without being able to pull the right strings within your squad. We’re not rich enough for our best eleven to beat everyone in every situation. There are limitations to picking your eleven based on who’s training the best, sometimes you need to match player skill sets to the type of match our opposition is likely to give us.
It’s a minor gripe when you compare his body of work to other managers we’ve employed since he left but it’s probably also a significant reason why deep cup runs have been so sparse under him despite us being quite good overall.
