Queen's Park 7 QOS 2

QUEEN’S PARK showed enormous strength of character to comeback from two goals down just THREE minutes into this game.

But the response was emphatic as the Wee Spiders fired seven in return against Queen of the South in the CAS Under-17 Advanced Youth League.

The Doonhamers scored from the penalty spot after just two minutes and capitalised on their opener almost immediately to double their advantage.

However Lee Mitchell’s side rallied, and then some.

They managed to find three goals to lead at half-time and then added to that scoreline in the second half, despite an under-par performance.

The coach said: “We looked a little sloppy in the first half with misplaced passes and just generally making poor decisions on the ball. We managed to get a goal back around the 30 minute mark and looked more like ourselves for the last 15.

“In the second half, we went on to score another 4 goals and although it finished a comfortable scoreline If I’m being honest, I didn’t think we were great on the night.

“Of course, it’s great to get another good result, but we’re looking for a good performance as well, so it’s important we don’t get complacent and maintain our standards that we’ve set in previous games.

“The boys did show good character to come back from two goals down so early in the game though.”

QUEEN’S PARK: Stevenson, Breeds, Divers, Smith, Quail, Lafferty, Wright, Goldie, Edzie, Duffy, Moore, Browne, Weir, Anderson, Cunningham, Watt.

Next up for the Wee Spiders is a trip to Dingwall to meet Ross County at 1pm on Friday, before a return to Lochinch to host St Johnstone on Monday evening.
