'Wonderful' Man United star nominated for Premier League award, could now equal Cristiano Ronaldo record
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes enjoyed his most productive spell this season last month, registering four assists in four games.
He created the opener for Casemiro in the 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest, before setting up Matthijs de Ligt’s last-gasp goal at Tottenham’s Hotspur.
His best display came in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, setting up both goals to climb to fourth in United’s Premier League assists chart, overtaking Paul Scholes.
The Portuguese is in contention for United’s November Player of the Month, alongside Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt.
Recognising his recent performances, the Premier League has also nominated Fernandes for November’s Player of the Month.
Bryan Mbeumo won the award in October, meaning two United players could now win it consecutively for the first time since 2020, when Fernandes won it back-to-back.
Described as a ‘wonderful footballer‘ by club legend Rio Ferdinand, the 31-year-old has already won the award five times.
Cristiano Ronaldo holds the record for the most Premier League Player of the Month wins by any United player, and Fernandes could now become the joint-record holder if he emerges the winner this time around.
The other nominees for the league’s November Player of the Month are Harvey Barnes (Newcastle United), Declan Rice (Arsenal), Jeremy Doku (Manchester City) and Reece James (Chelsea).
Igor Thiago (Brentford), Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Everton), and Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest) complete the list.
Meanwhile, Fernandes is expected to be named in the matchday squad when Man United host West Ham United this evening, despite fitness concerns.
He will hope to build on his recent stellar display to help United record a victory against the Hammers, and climb to fifth position in the standings.
