Patriots’ Offseason Addition Harold Landry III Lauds ‘Special Group’

The New England Patriots are firing on all cylinders during a breakout 10-2 campaign. Harold Landry III has helped transform the culture within his new team.

Landry reunited with former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel to sign a three-year, $43.5 million contract with the Patriots this offseason. The linebacker has recorded 6.5 sacks and 16 quarterback hits for the league’s No. 7 defense this season.

Per ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Landry celebrated the team chemistry ahead of New England’s Week 13 game against the New York Giants.

“I ain’t going to lie, this is one of the dopest locker rooms I’ve been a part of,” Landry said. “The guys we have here, it’s a special group. And I’m not just talking about talent on the field, but also the people we have in this locker room. And honestly, the coaches included too. I don’t think I could enjoy coming to work more than I do here.”

The 29-year-old has embraced a leadership role as a team captain. Landry said Vrabel empowers captains to speak out during meetings.

“Vrabes has always been the type of guy to hear leaders out, and to hear the guys that give their all to the team,” Landry said. “I think the meetings have been great. We come together as a group and make a lot of decisions together.”

The Boston College alumnus has also enjoyed returning to the New England region. He watched the Celtics secure a first-round playoff victory over the Orlando Magic with his son, Greyson.

“One of the biggest things is coming back to a pro sports city,” Landry said. “In Tennessee, the Titans and Predators were all we had, unless you wanted to drive to Memphis for the Grizzlies. Being able to go to Celtics games, Sox games, Bruins — all of it has been super dope. [Greyson] is having a blast. He’s a big sports fan, and he’s going to be 10 times better than I ever was. So it’s been refreshing being back here.”

Landry is questionable for Monday night’s game after missing practice on Thursday and Friday with a knee injury.
