JJ Gabriel sparks controversy with celebration in Man United’s 7-0 win vs Liverpool

Manchester United U18s returned to winning ways in the U18 Premier League North on Saturday morning, securing a dominant 7-0 win at Liverpool.

Highly-rated JJ Gabriel was the star of the show, scoring a hat-trick, just 24 hours after training with the first team.

He has now netted a hat-trick twice this season, having done the same in the 4-0 win at Derby County in August.

Bendito Mantato opened the scoring, racing through on goal through the right wing, maintaining composure before slotting the ball home.

Gabriel doubled the lead with an astounding finish. Following a brilliant turn by Jay McEvoy, the 15-year-old forward received the ball, mesmerised his markers, and put the ball into the net.

The United youngster sparked controversy after scoring, emulating Liverpool star Alexander Isak’s trademark celebration.

Gabriel extended United’s advantage, ferociously striking into the roof of the net, showing close control and brilliant footwork before applying the finish.

Louis Bradbury, who marked his return to action in the game, got in on the act, scoring from close range to make it 4-0.

United were not done yet as Jim Thwaites scored from the penalty spot, following a foul on Samuel Lusale in the penalty area.

A minute from time, Lusale also got on the scoresheet, squeezing the ball into the net from an acute angle, deepening the woes of the Reds.

Gabriel completed the scoring in the additional time, taking advantage of Liverpool’s poor defending to mark his hat-trick.

The English teenage sensation has now scored 10 goals in the U18 Premier League North this term, the most of any United player.
