Club Statement – Ross County Postponement

Club Statement - Ross County Postponement

QUEEN’S PARK FC regrets the disruption and frustrations of supporters resulting from our William Hill Championship fixture with Ross County being postponed on Friday evening.

The club shares this disappointment that the match did not go ahead as scheduled, particularly with the visiting team and supporters travelling from the Highlands and the fixture due to be broadcast live on BBC television.

Since Scotland’s training camp at The city Stadium earlier in the week, ground staff closely monitored weather and pitch conditions in preparation for this fixture and had contact with SPFL staff at various points on Friday.

Match officials arrived at The city Stadium and conducted a walk-round of the pitch at 6.15pm. No concerns over the condition of the surface were expressed to Queen’s Park FC at this stage.

Players from both teams, and the match officials, proceeded to use the pitch for their warm-up and pre-match preparations until concerns regarding underfoot conditions in some areas were raised around an hour later.

Following discussions between match officials and representatives from both clubs, the decision was taken by the referee to postpone the match.

As stated above, Queen’s Park FC regrets the late timing of the match postponement and shares the frustrations of fans but acknowledges player safety has to take priority in such circumstances.

Thank you to all supporters who travelled to the game and purchased tickets. Details of our ticket refund process have been published on the club website and a re-arranged date for the fixture will be communicated to supporters once known.
