Jaylen Brown, Payton Pritchard Combine For 63 Points As Celtics Beat Clippers
The Boston Celtics are officially .500 (7-7 record) after defeating the LA Clippers at TD Garden on Sunday afternoon by a score of 121-118. The scoring stars for Boston against the Clips were Jaylen Brown and Payton Pritchard.
Brown led the way with 33 points on 14-for-33 from the field to go along with an impressive 12 rebounds. The reigning Sixth Man of the Year Pritchard poured in 30 points on an absurdly efficient 10-of-16 from the field and 8-of-13 from three. He also hit two clutch free throws with two seconds remaining to maintain a three-point lead.
James Harden led the Clippers in scoring with 37. He hit a big three to put pressure on Pritchard to knock down his free throws, and then Harden had another wide open look from three as time expired, but he just missed it.
Derrick White also had a nice shooting day for Boston. He dropped 22 points on 4-of-8 from three and hit a couple of big free throws down the stretch. He also had seven rebounds and nine assists to just one turnover — a spectacular point guard performance orchestrating the Celtics’ offense.
The Celtics are now 4-3 at home this year. Up next, they’ll head to Brooklyn to face the lowly Nets on Tuesday.
