Seagulls are beaten by Haverfordwest
THE Seagulls suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat away to bottom three side Haverfordwest County in their latest JD Cymru Premier fixture.
The only goal of the game came midway through the second half and the Bay, still missing key players through suspension and injury, were unable to pull it back.
Colwyn Bay had their chances and in the first half Jordan Davies fired a 20 yard free kick high over the bar and Uniss Kargbo and Aaron Williams both missed the target from Aron Williams’ crosses. At the other end Alex Brown made a fine save to tip a deflected shot from Corey Shephard round the post and also saved a Dylan Rees header.
In the second half Jamie Cumming had a header cleared off the line, but Haverfordwest looked the more likely to break the deadlock and the winning goal came on 63 minutes with Rhys Abbruzzese’s shot from the edge of the area finding the bottom corner of the net through a forest of legs.
Ethan Roberts had a couple of shots saved after good runs into the box and Nathan Peate’s effort from a corner was straight at the keeper.
Substitute Owen Davies had a goalbound shot blocked late on, but Haverfordwest were close to doubling their lead when Ben Fawcett hit the bar.
