Tottenham find Rodrygo alternative in £60m Premier League winger with four goals this season

A new report has shed light on Tottenham’s latest plans regarding signing a wide forward like Real Madrid’s Rodrygo in January.

A number of wide-forwards have been linked with a move to N17 over the last month or so, with Thomas Frank’s men seemingly prioritising that area in January.

Spurs were reportedly ready to spend big on Morgan Rogers, but that ship has now sailed with the 23-year-old signing a new contract at Aston Villa.

Some sources even claimed that Tottenham were the front-runners to sign Rodrygo after failing with a move for the Real Madrid man in the summer, but another name has now been put forward as the Lilywhites’ potential top target.

Journalist claims Tottenham could turn to exciting Everton winger

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has now claimed on Football Insider that Frank has informed the Spurs hierarchy to prioritise signing a wide-forward in January.

In fact, he explains that the Dane wanted another wide player through the door in the summer, but the North London club failed to get a deal done.

O’Rourke confirms that Tottenham remain interested in Rodrygo, but claims that signing the Brazilian mid-season will be very difficult. This backs up what Florian Plettenberg reported on Wednesday morning, stating that Tottenham cannot afford Rodrygo’s wages and the current transfer links are wide of the mark.

As a result, he suggests that the Lilywhites could turn their attention to Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, who has made an excellent start to the season.

The journalist says that even though Ndiaye is a player that the Toffees will be reluctant to lose, Spurs are continuing to look at him closely.

Other sources have confirmed that Spurs are big fans of Iliman Ndiaye

O’Rourke is not the first journalist to report on Tottenham’s interest in the Senegal international.

Just a few days ago, Dean Jones claimed that Spurs could turn their full attention to landing Ndiaye after Rogers signed a new contract at Villa.

However, some sources have reported that Tottenham would have to pay over £60m to land Ndiaye, and one would expect Everton’s asking price to keep going up as the winger keeps racking up one good performance after another.
