Aston Villa team news as Ollie Watkins is BENCHED against Maccabi Tel Aviv
Manager Unai Emery has named his team for Aston Villa’s Europa League match against Maccabi Tel Aviv this evening.
Villa need a win after throwing away three points in their last Europa League fixture against Go Ahead Eagles but Emery has again made a number of significant changes to his starting line-up.
Ollie Watkins drops out of the team to be replaced up front, presumably, by Donyell Malen.
Matty Cash, Lucas Digne and Boubacar Kamara are also among the substitutes along with Villa captain John McGinn.
Villa welcome back a barrage of substitutes
There are headlines galore on the Villa bench this evening, where there are some welcome additions including midfielder Youri Tielemans on his return from injury.
There’s also a place for Emi Buendía after he missed out against Liverpool due to an injury sustained in the win against Manchester City.
They’re joined by two especially noteworthy subs. Harvey Elliott is back after he was left out of the matchday squad by choice against Manchester City and necessity against Liverpool, while Ross Barkley has been added to the Europa League squad in place of the injured Tyrone Mings.
