The Maine Celtics are Boston’s G League affiliate and revealed their 2025-26 roster on Thursday.

Luis landed with the Celtics in early August when he was traded from the Utah Jazz in exchange for veteran power forward Georges Niang and a pair of future draft picks.

The 22-year-old played one season with UMass before transferring to St. John’s ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

Luis was the Big East Player of the Year award last season after averaging 18.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists.

According to Dalzell’s report, his surgery “should keep him out for a considerable amount of time.” Dalzell added that the injury for which Luis is undergoing the procedure “remains undisclosed at this time.”

He was on a two-way contract with the Celtics during training camp and joined Maine after being waived by Boston.

Luis didn’t play during the Summer League due to a knee injury but suited up for the Celtics’ training camp and preseason. He appeared in three preseason contests, scoring six points in eight minutes.
