Video: De Rossi arrives to replace Vieira as Genoa head coach
Roma legend Daniele De Rossi has been spotted in the city of Genoa as he prepares to take over as head coach of the Grifone following the recent dismissal of head coach Patrick Vieira.
As Football Italia reported earlier in the day, De Rossi is set to be appointed on an initial short-term contract until the end of the 2025-26 season with an option to extend if he and the team achieve Serie A survival.
De Rossi is expected to be appointed in time for the crucial relegation scrap between Genoa and Fiorentina on Sunday.
Genoa currently sit in the relegation zone, in 18th, with six points from their opening 10 league matches of the season. The winless Fiorentina are in 20th, just two points behind Genoa on four.
Fiorentina are also without a head coach heading into their game against Genoa this weekend, following the recent sacking of Stefano Pioli. Football Italia understands that Paolo Vanoli, who had also been linked with the Genoa job, is likely to be appointed in time for the Serie A match on Sunday.
