Mike Vrabel Denies Patriots Simulated Falcons’ Snap Counts
New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has responded to Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris’ claims that they simulated the snap counts.
Morris accused the Patriots of simulating their snap counts by having defensive linemen clap, which confused Atlanta’s offensive linemen. After Morris’ comments, Vrabel denied the accusation at his press conference on Monday.
“Certainly, that wasn’t anybody’s intent, and I don’t think that we’ve ever coached that or talked about that,” Vrabel said on Monday. “I can’t spend that much time focused on it. I did look at it briefly. I certainly didn’t think that that was anything that we did – I mean, I think it’s pretty loud, guys are trying to get lined up, and I’m glad that we took off when they snapped the ball.”
Although Vrabel denied that the Patriots tried to simulate the snap count, he isn’t annoyed that Morris brought it up.
But, Vrabel said he wasn’t going to waste his time talking about it, as he didn’t see any of his defensive linemen doing anything.
“I don’t think annoyed,” Vrabel added. “I’m trying to not waste any more time looking for anybody clapping. I don’t see anything.”
The Patriots ended up hanging on for a 25-24 win over the Falcons at home in Week 9, as Atlanta had a chance to tie the game late, but missed an extra point.
New England will go on the road to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday in Week 10 NFL action.
