Yankees Haters Will Love To Hear What Miguel Rojas Did To Jazz Chisholm Jr.
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas is basking in the best moment of his baseball life right now, which naturally has haters flocking to the scene. With Rojas immortalizing himself in baseball history in Game 7 of the World Series with one of the most iconic home runs of all time, anti-Rojas trolls have taken the opportunity to remind fans that Rojas once intentionally destroyed Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s custom cleats while the two players were teammates on the Miami Marlins.
According to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic (subscription required), Rojas wanted to send a message to the then-rookie Chisholm, and so he cut up a pair of Chisholm’s cleats with scissors and filled another pair with milk.
With Chisholm eventually going public with the story and presenting himself as Rojas’s victim, Rojas responded to the claims by saying that he has his side of the story, but that he prefers to keep clubhouse matters like that in house. However, Rojas did make comments to Chris Rose in March 2024 suggesting that he was trying to teach Chisholm a lesson in accountability with his stunt.
“When you come to a place … there are people there that have been there before you,” Rojas said. “There’s rules in place and someone is gonna keep you accountable.”
Fans are divided on the Rojas-Chisholm dispute, although plenty of people were making light of the situation following Game 7, indicating that Chisholm probably isn’t too thrilled to see Rojas become a World Series legend.
Let’s not forget that Rojas and the Dodgers also defeated Chisholm’s Yanks in the 2024 World Series a year ago.
And while Chisholm might be sulking about the situation right now, Yankees haters who dislike Chisholm are loving Rojas’s moment.
Outside of the humorous takes on the matter, it’s important to respect that Chisholm was genuinely bothered by the Rojas prank. This opens up an interesting dialogue. Was Rojas’s stunt defensible in the name of veteran leadership, or did he take things too far? Also, what exactly did Chisholm do to convince Rojas that the rookie needed to be taught something?
The latter topic remains shrouded in mystery with Rojas electing to keep most of the details of the affair in house.
Anyway, that’s all far from Rojas’s mind this week. He’s in Los Angeles celebrating his second straight title.
