Summary: Betteshanger Welfare Women

0 3

Following last Sunday’s FA Cup exit to Plymouth Argyle, the Stones returned to league action with a 2-0 win over Betteshanger Welfare.

The victory preserved Maidstone’s unbeaten record in the SECWFL Premier Division, with games in hand over all other teams in the league.

While the match may not linger long in the memory, it showcased the resilience of Tori Campbell’s side and highlighted the team’s progression from last season. Betteshanger, despite their league position, delivered a spirited performance and made Maidstone work hard for the three points.

The visitors gifted Maidstone the opener with an own goal in the 18th minute, having weathered early pressure. Player-manager Campbell doubled the lead ten minutes later.

Both sides had chances in the second half, but Maidstone couldn’t extend their lead, and Betteshanger were unable to find a way back into the game.

The latest round of fixtures was published over the weekend, and these two teams are set to meet again in three weeks’ time.
