NFL Personality Encourages Patriots To ‘Go All Out’ Before Trade Deadline
The New England Patriots traded Kyle Dugger and Deion White this week, but they could turn their attention to upgrading the roster before Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline.
Kay Adams wants the Patriots to make a splash in the next few days. On Thursday’s “Up & Adams,” the FanDuel TV host said she’s “intrigued” by New England as a contender to watch on the trade front.
“You can make the argument they are not a piece away from making the Super Bowl,” Adams said. “Sure, you can make that argument. I’m gonna say to that, why the hell not?”
Adams argued that Drake Maye, a stout defense and a favorable schedule position the Patriots to make a playoff run. The former NFL Network personality thinks the Patriots should strike while the iron’s hot.
“You have an inside track to winning the AFC East,” Adams said. “Go all out. Not going to name names here. We’ve seen teams with many more holes and deficiencies and flaws than this go on a run in January … Seriously, they can go all the way.”
Adams identified two explosive playmakers she’d love to see the Patriots add, even if neither is particularly likely.
The Miami Dolphins probably wouldn’t trade Jaylen Waddle to a division competitor, but Adams sees the speedy wide receiver as the perfect complement to Stefon Diggs. She thinks the Dolphins would have to at least listen to a strong offer with their season in shambles.
Reports have indicated the Patriots could pursue a running back on the trade market. Adams doesn’t believe they should, unless they can pry Alvin Kamara away from the New Orleans Saints.
The 30-year-old has made it clear that he doesn’t want to play anywhere else, saying he’s “going to go drink a piña colada somewhere” if he gets traded.
“Who else would make sense outside of AK? I don’t think anyone,” Adams opined. “… He’s the only guy that really gives them something that they don’t already have on the roster.”
Adams also cautioned that the Patriots’ deadline approach could depend on how they fare against the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday.
