QUEEN’S PARK fans dug deep to support the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice while supporting their team.
Fundraisers, led by fundraising manager David Walker, held a bucket collection inside The city Stadium on Saturday at our William Hill Championship fixture with Ayr United.
The Hospice, based on the southside of Glasgow in Bellahouston Park serves Glasgow and East Renfrewshire by providing person-centred and family focused care to support 1200 new patients and families living with a life-limiting or terminal illness every year.
Thanks to the generosity of the supporters of both the Spiders and the visiting Honest Men, a sum of £522.39 was raised.
Among the cash was a generous donation from the team at Evolve Joinery who pledged £200 for every goal scored. Despite the match ending 0-0 Allan Milligan stuck to his word and donated the funds anyway.
The generosity was shared by Ayr United supporters in the Skeoch family who also contributed a sizeable donation.
Head of commercial at Queen’s Park, Kieran Koszary said: “This was yet again a fantastic response from our Queen’s Park fanbase.
“We have supported several charities this season so far and we are delighted to hear the local Hospice has benefitted from the generosity of our own fans, and that of the visitors from Ayr.
“The kind gesture from the team at Evolve put a smile across the faces of the Black and White Lounge in hospitality, and it was a pleasure to host the fundraisers at our match.”
Rhona Baillie, Chief Executive of The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, said: “Thanks to everyone who donated to Glasgow’s Hospice through our bucket collection at the recent game against Ayr United. Your support means the world to us and helps us keep on caring for our patients and their families. Thanks also to Queen’s Park FC for having us along on the day. Your support is truly appreciated.”
