Drake Maye’s Historic Season Keeps Getting Better For Patriots

Nearly halfway through his second season, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye keeps finding new ways to write his name in the record books.

Maye has been outstanding during his sophomore campaign, performing at an MVP-caliber level on a weekly basis. Through eight games, he already has as many touchdown passes (15) and nearly as many passing yards as he did during 13 games as a rookie last year.

The 23-year-old’s accuracy has been remarkable (especially on deep balls), helping him lead the NFL in completion percentage (75.2%) and passer rating (118.7).

Maye continued his historic run on Sunday, completing 75% of his passes while throwing for 282 yards and three touchdowns in a 32-13 rout of the Cleveland Browns.

With 15 touchdown passes, 2,026 passing yards and a 75.2% completion rate, Maye is only the second quarterback in NFL history with at least 15 touchdown passes, 2,000 passing yards and a 75% completion rate, joining Drew Brees from 2018.

Maye is also the only quarterback in NFL history with at least 150 pass attempts, a 75% completion rate, at least 200 rushing yards and a passer rating of at least 125 over a seven-game span, establishing himself as an elite dual-threat QB and doing things not even the great Tom Brady ever did.

The former first-round draft pick is living up to the hype and the Josh Allen comparisons. He’ll look to keep rolling at home this weekend against the Atlanta Falcons, who just got torched by the Miami Dolphins for 34 points, including four passing touchdowns from Tua Tagovailoa.
