Browns’ Denzel Ward Praises Patriots’ Drake Maye’s Performance

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns, with one interception, in a 32-13 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Cleveland’s defense rarely sees a quarterback get close to 300 yards, especially since it hasn’t allowed a 300-yard passer since Gardner Minshew threw for 305 yards with the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7 of the 2023 season. Browns cornerback Denzel Ward found the young quarterback’s performance impressive.

“Yeah, he’s a great quarterback, poised,” Ward said on Sunday. “He came out here, got the win, you know, credit to him. He’s a good player for their team. Yeah, they got the job done and we didn’t.”

Ward wasn’t the only Browns player to sing the praises of Maye. Pass rusher Myles Garrett believes that Maye is on the verge of greatness.

“I think he is a great human being,” Garrett said on Sunday. “I think he is a good quarterback who is soon to be a great quarterback. I like how he’s grown. It’s nice to be a part of his journey. Hate to be on this end of it, but it’s nice to see how he’s leading his team. He’s helped them rebuild into what they are now. In a way, I’m proud of him, and I’m happy to see his success.”

Maye will look to continue his success against the Falcons this Sunday, and some of Atlanta’s defensive stars will likely view Maye the same way Garrett and Ward did.
