Blue Jays’ Max Scherzer Set To Make MLB History In Game 3

With the 2025 World Series knotted at one game apiece, Game 3 will feature a starting pitcher duel between Los Angeles Dodgers’ Tyler Glasnow and Toronto Blue Jays’ Max Scherzer.

Scherzer, 41, will be making his fourth World Series appearance in his career (fifth start), and what’s even more amazing about that is that Mad Max will have made each of those appearances with a separate franchise.

Besides a start for the Texas Rangers in 2023 and two starts in 2019 for the Washington Nationals (both on the way to a title), Scherzer also made a start in the 2012 World Series for the Detroit Tigers (Detroit ultimately lost that series to the San Franciso Giants).

Scherzer has never lost a World Series start. He has a record of 1-0 with an ERA of 3.26 and 19 strikeouts.

“This is what you play for, to be able to get to this spot, to get to this moment, to have a shot at it,” Scherzer said about his Game 3 opportunity, per the Associate Press. “You just think about, throughout your whole life, all the different things that have unfolded. Just so fortunate to have another crack at this. There’s so many great players that have never gotten to a World Series, so many great players where they only have one World Series.”

The starters for Game 4 have also been announced. Shane Bieber will be on the mound for Toronto against LA’s two-way monster Shohei Ohtani.
