Patriots Make Pair Of Roster Moves Before Browns Matchup

The New England Patriots are putting the finishing touches on their preparations for their Week 8 clash with the Cleveland Browns. On Saturday afternoon, that led the front office to make a pair of roster moves that could end up becoming very important once this game gets underway.

Heading into this contest, the Patriots are about as healthy as a team can be at this point in the season. They only have one player on their injury report ahead of this game, and that’s safety Kyle Dugger, who is questionable with a knee injury.

Still, there are a couple of areas on the roster that the team wants to have reinforcements at before they suit up on Sunday. That led to running back Terrell Jennings and safety Richie Grant being elevated from the practice squad to the active roster the day before New England’s upcoming game.

“Patriots elevate S Richie Grant and RB Terrell Jennings to the active roster,” the team shared in a post on X.

This will be the third game of the season for Jennings, who has slotted in as the team’s No. 3 running back in the wake of Antonio Gibson suffering a torn ACL in Week 5. He racked up 18 yards on five carries last week, which mostly came in mop-up duty late in the fourth quarter.

Grant is a former second-round pick who spent the first four years of his career with the Atlanta Falcons. After latching on with New England’s practice squad earlier this month, Grant will be active for his first game this season with Dugger’s status up in the air.

Grant’s elevation could spell bad news for Dugger’s Week 8 status, but other than that, everyone seems to be in good shape heading into this game. Kickoff for the Patriots’ Week 8 contest against the Cleveland Browns is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
