Blue Jays Make Intriguing Lineup Decision Involving Bo Bichette In Game 1 Of World Series

The Toronto Blue Jays made an interesting lineup decision ahead of Game 1 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.

Toronto named Bo Bichette to the World Series roster earlier in the day, as he will make his postseason debut after returning from a knee injury, as he injured his knee on Sept. 6.

But the surprising news is that Bichette will be starting at second base, which is the first time the star hitter has played the position in his big league career.

Bichette will also be batting cleanup, as the Blue Jays’ lineup is as follows:

Bichette was taking ground balls at second base earlier this week. Blue Jays manager John Schneider didn’t rule out Bichette playing second, which has now come to fruition.

“It’s a little bit of a leap,” Schneider said, via MLB.com. “He’s pretty realistic about how he feels and how he will feel if he’s out there. So it’s something we got to continue to work through. I think that if he feels comfortable doing it, I’m going to listen to players and trust them.”

Along with Bichette, the other notable lineup news is Davis Schneider batting second and playing left field, as well as Myles Straw batting eighth and playing right field.

With the Dodgers starting left-hander Blake Snell, Toronto opted to sit Addison Barger and Nathan Lukes for right-handed batters in Schneider and Straw.

The Blue Jays will be starting right-hander Trey Yesavage, who’s set to make his fourth playoff start, and seventh career start overall.
