AYR UNITED are back in Glasgow for the second time inside a week – as Queen’s Park host the Honest Men in our own double-bill.
Back-to-back home games have given Sean Crighton’s side two chances to register a first league win at The city Stadium.
But a scoreless stalemate with Airdrie last week brought one point rather than three.
The search for that first home win of the William Hill Championship season moves on to this weekend and the visit of Scott Brown’s side from Somerset Park.
While there were no goals and lots of frustration, Sean Crighton was pleased with the amount of chances the Spiders created – just implored his forward players to take them.

It’s a game which has whet the appetite of supporters and the ground is a sell-out with a packed hospitality lounge too for the follow-up to the sides’ 1-1 draw earlier this season.

The Season so far...
Ayr enjoyed an excellent Premier Sports Cup campaign to begin the season, winning three on the bounce before a difficult start to the William Hill Championship campaign.
After four points from five games – including a late draw against Queen’s Park – Ayr and the Spiders were locked on the same number of points.
However, after registering their first win that slow early season form flipped and Scott Brown’s team took 13 points from a possible 15, only losing during the week at Partick Thistle – the Honest Men’s first defeat since mid-August.
That means, heading into our second meeting of the season there is now eight points and four league places between the sides who fought out a 1-1 draw at Somerset Park in August.
That day Josh Fowler was on target from the penalty spot and only a late deflection off Matty Shiels salvaged a point for the home side.
