24yo Man United man set to demand January exit after brutal Amorim snub
Manchester United could soon be forced to part ways with one of their forwards.
According to The Mirror, Joshua Zirkzee “will ask to leave Manchester United in the next transfer window”.
The Dutch forward may not have to leave England, with West Ham United reportedly leading the chase for his signature.
The report further reveals that Amorim has decided to exclude Zirkzee from his long-term plans.
The 24-year-old has been limited to just 82 minutes across four appearances, a damning reflection of his current status in the squad.
He joined United from Bologna last summer in a £36 million deal, but his time in Manchester has yet to ignite.
He managed to score only seven goals in 49 appearances last season.
The forward fears that staying at Old Trafford could derail his dream of making the Netherlands squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Despite ending the 2024/25 campaign in fine form, he has struggled to adapt to the tempo and intensity of Premier League football.
He lacks pace to be a dependable number nine and his creativity is not sharp enough to compete with Bryan Mbeumo or Matheus Cunha for a deeper attacking role.
At best, he could remain as a squad player at Old Trafford.
United do not have any European fixtures this season and suffered an early elimination from the Carabao Cup.
The number of games is far too few for the squad players to remain content with their game time.
With frustration mounting and options limited, United may have little choice but to cash in on Zirkzee in January if the situation fails to improve.
