Ex-Celtics Guard Terry Rozier Arrested By FBI In Gambling Probe

The FBI arrested former Boston Celtics guard Terry Rozier as part of a gambling probe.

NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN reported the news on X on Thursday. FBI director Kash Patel later confirmed the news in a press conference.

“Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier was arrested early Thursday morning as part of an FBI sports betting gambling probe, sources tell ESPN,” Charania wrote on X. “The Eastern District of New York and FBI director Kash Patel will hold a press conference at 10 am ET to announce arrests from (the) investigation.”

The Celtics drafted Rozier in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft. He spent four years in Boston before the Celtics moved him to the Charlotte Hornets in the sign-and-trade for Kemba Walker.

Rozier is playing for the Miami Heat and is in the final year of his four-year, $96.25 million deal.

Along with Rozier, Portland Trail Blazers head coach and former Celtics star Chauncey Billups was also arrested by the FBI in the gambling probe, according to Charania.

The Celtics drafted Billips third overall in 1997, and he was traded midway through his first season to the Toronto Raptors. Billups was a five-time NBA All-Star and was named Finals MVP in 2004 when he helped the Detroit Pistons win the championship.

This is not the first time an NBA player has been caught in a gambling probe. Former Raptors forward Jontay Porter was banned by the NBA and arrested after admitting to competitive manipulation in two NBA games.
