Marco Sturm Sends Clear Message To Bruins Amid Losing Streak
The Boston Bruins are on a five-game losing streak, and head coach Marco Sturm wants the team to go back to basics.
The Bruins started the year with three straight wins but went winless on a three-game road trip. Ahead of Boston’s home game against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday, Sturm sent a clear message to his team as they look to return to the win column.
“It’s just going back to details, and I think going back to our foundation,” Sturm said to reporters on Thursday morning. “What happens is a lot of times is you think you’ve got to score, and think about offense all the time, and this and that, and you forget about the details and the foundation of your game.
“We’re not there yet. We can’t look too much ahead. I know it’s tough to be patient sometimes, especially when you lose, but we’ve got to start from there and build up as much as we can.”
Although Sturm is preaching patience with the team, the Bruins head coach is making some lineup changes ahead of Thursday’s game.
Jeffrey Viel is expected to move up to the third line to play alongside Tanner Jeannot and Fraser Minten.
Meanwhile, star defenseman Hampus Lindholm is a game-time decision as he continues to deal with a lower-body injury. If he misses his third-straight game, Michael Callahan could make his season debut after Boston recalled him from the AHL
