Drake Maye’s NFL MVP Odds Revealed Ahead Of Week 8
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is officially a top five NFL MVP candidate, at least according to the oddsmakers.
Hannah Vanbiber of The Athletic broke down the top MVP contenders on Tuesday and revealed that Maye currently has the fourth-best odds to capture the hardware at +1000.
The former third overall pick trails only Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (+150), Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (+400) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (+425), according to the senior editor’s report.
Mayfield’s rise from when he started the season at +3000 odds for the award (12th-best) to third in the running has been shocking, but Maye’s has been even more impressive.
The North Carolina product opened the season in 20th place with his odds at +6600.
Maye enters Week 8 leading the NFL in completion percentage (75.2%), tied for first in passer rating (116.4) and eighth in passing yards (1,744) with 12 passing touchdowns against just two interceptions. He’s added 44 rushing attempts for 200 yards and two scores as well.
Los Angeles Rams signal-caller Matthew Stafford has the fifth-best odds to win the MVP award (+1100) and fellow quarterbacks Jared Goff (+2200), Jordan Love (+2500), Daniel Jones (+2500), Dak Prescott (+3000) and Lamar Jackson (+3500) round out the top 10.
The 23-year-old Maye was a popular breakout pick over the summer, but his rise to superstardom has taken even some of the most optimistic Patriots fans by surprise.
