Woking hosted a strong Fulham U21 side in their third National League Cup fixture having registered a win and a loss in their previous games.
The visitors began the game the stronger side, dominating possession, but the first chance came when Timmy Akinola was found at the back post but headed straight at McNally.
Fulham continued to play the ball around nicely, and Seth Rigeon forced Chin Okoli to foul him on the edge of the box after twenty minutes, which saw the Woking defender booked. His free kick was gathered by Craig Ross.
The game shifted just before half time when Ashley Boatswain was given his marching orders for a headbutt off the ball to reduce the Cards to ten men. Fulham nearly broke the deadlock when Farhan Ali Wahid was found at the back post by a low cross, but diverted the ball wide.
Half time: Woking 0-0 Fulham U21s
A busy start from the Cards to the second half saw Josh Osude pick up the ball from about forty yards out, driving into the box and turning his defender superbly before his low shot was well saved by McNally.
Osude’s searing pace was causing problems for McNally and his defence, with the keeper relieved to kick the ball behind for a corner after the winger took the ball from him and looked to shoot.
It was the Cards who looked more likely to score, and Jack Turner’s low shot crept past the post after good play down the right.
Craig Ross was called into action when Chibby Nwoko’s shot from distance took a deflection and had to be tipped brilliantly onto the post by the veteran stopper.
Woking had the opening goal with just over fifteen minutes left when a superb Turner free kick delivery was flicked home by Jamie Andrews into the bottom corner, reward for an excellent showing with ten men.
Woking doubled their lead in the 82nd minute when a Turner corner caused problems, it looked like McNally had punched the ball over the line but it wasn’t given a goal. However, the ball was recycled and Turner was at the back post to fire home and make it two in two games for himself.
Three points in the National League Cup, as well as a clean sheet to cap off a good evening for the Cards, who will look to build on two good wins ahead of the visit of league leaders Rochdale on Saturday.
