How Richarlison is feeling about Tottenham future after £18m drop in asking price

0 11

Amidst reports that a Major League Soccer club is trying to sign Richarlison from Tottenham, a journalist has now shed light on what the player’s stance is on his future.

With Dominic Solanke still on the mend after his ankle surgery and with deadline day signing Randal Kolo Muani also spending a lot of time on the treatment table, Thomas Frank’s hands have been tied when it comes to the number nine role.

Even though Richarlison’s form has dropped off after a strong start to the season, the Dane has had to persist with the Brazilian.

However, reports over recent weeks have indicated that Frank has not been overly impressed with the former Everton man and that Tottenham could cash in on Richarlison in January.

What is Richarlison’s stance on swapping Tottenham for the MLS?

Two weeks ago, it emerged that MLS side Orlando City are now eyeing a move for Richarlison in January, having failed to strike a deal with Tottenham for the forward in the summer.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has said that a move to the United States may be something that interests the Spurs man in the future, but he made it clear that the 28-year-old is not thinking about leaving the North London club right now.

When asked about the reports linking Richarlison with a move to the States, O’Rourke told Football Insider: “[The] MLS could be attractive to Richarlison. It’s an up-and-coming league. We’ve got the likes of Messi and everything over there has definitely raised the profile of the MLS.

“But, I don’t think Richarlison at this stage of his career is probably thinking of making that move to the MLS just yet. You probably still feel he’s got a lot to offer to European football. Richarlison is totally focused on Tottenham and maintaining his form for them right now.

“And he’ll be hoping to have a successful season with Tottenham, which would set him nicely up for the World Cup with Brazil in the summer as well. I think any move to the MLS would be put on the back burner for the foreseeable future.”

Spurs’ asking price for Richarlison has dropped since the summer

It has been claimed by some sources that Tottenham wanted £35m for Richarlison in the summer, and they ended up pricing the forward out of a move.

However, over recent weeks, it has been suggested that Spurs would be ready to accept £17m for the striker in January.

According to reports, Richarlison is attracting interest from Crystal Palace and from clubs in Brazil ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
