Patriots Mike Vrabel Has Already Proved Titans Dead Wrong

As Mike Vrabel leads his New England Patriots into Week 7, the contrast between his current success and the Tennessee Titans’ ongoing woes could not be clearer.

The Patriots enter the game at 4-2, riding a three-game winning streak that has positioned them as contenders in the AFC East.

Meanwhile, the Titans sit at 1-5, continuing the turmoil that has plagued the franchise since parting ways with Vrabel after the 2023 season. Vrabel’s leadership has transformed one team while exposing the regrettable decision that left another in disarray.

Vrabel was fired by the Titans in January 2024, following a 6-11 campaign that ended a run of three playoff appearances and two AFC South titles under his watch.

Hired by the Patriots in January 2025 to replace Jerod Mayo, Vrabel inherited a squad that had posted back-to-back 4-13 records. Yet, in just six games, he has instilled a tough, disciplined identity reminiscent of his playing days in New England, where he won three Super Bowls. The Patriots’ defense has been much improved, while rookie quarterback Drake Maye has shown promise under Vrabel’s guidance.

In contrast, the Titans have spiraled. After hiring Brian Callahan in 2024, they finished 3-14 last year, and the struggles persisted into 2025, leading to Callahan’s firing earlier this week.

Owner Amy Adams Strunk’s choice to move on from Vrabel, despite his 54-45 overall mark and 2021 Coach of the Year award, now appears shortsighted, especially as he thrives in New England.

Vrabel has downplayed the emotional aspect of Week 7, focusing on execution, but a dominant performance could further cement his narrative of redemption.

Ultimately, Vrabel’s quick turnaround with the Patriots demonstrates the value of his no-nonsense approach and player rapport, qualities the Titans evidently miss.
