Amorim could unleash fearless £28m star to expose Liverpool's right-side weakness at Anfield

Manchester United will clash with Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.

United head coach Ruben Amorim will be desperate to turn up the heat on Arne Slot, whose Liverpool side are reeling after three consecutive defeats.

The Reds still boast a dazzling array of attacking talent, but their defensive frailties remain painfully exposed.

Amorim must capitalise on that weakness and push for a statement victory on enemy soil.

One player who could hold the key to United’s success is Patrick Dorgu.

The Portuguese head coach surprisingly benched the young Dane in the 2–0 triumph over Sunderland earlier this month.

However, Dorgu should be restored to the starting XI at Anfield to exploit Liverpool’s soft spot on the right flank.

Mohamed Salah may be a world-class attacker, but defensive work has never been his strongest suit.

He rarely tracks back with consistency, leaving Liverpool’s right side open to counters.

Dorgu is an adventurous wing-back, and he must run with the ball at Liverpool’s defence to push United higher up the pitch.

Liverpool also have a big right-back problem since the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Jeremie Frimpong offers explosive pace and attacking thrust, but his defensive discipline remains questionable.

Conor Bradley and Dominik Szoboszlai are alternative options.

Szoboszlai looks to be the best temporary solution for Slot but pulling him out of midfield would weaken his side’s creativity, especially with Florian Wirtz struggling to adapt to English football.

While Frimpong has a tendency to be caught out of position, young Bradley often gets too tight, too quickly to his man.

Dorgu is physically sharper than the 22-year-old and must use his blistering pace to good effect.

The £28 million-rated full-back was outstanding during Denmark’s 6–0 demolition of Belarus last week.

He hit the woodwork and then found the net before half-time.

Dorgu was also the most fouled player on the pitch and registered an impressive 15 touches inside the opposition box.

Amorim has previously urged the youngster to be more daring in the final third and this could be the perfect moment to deliver.

Anfield on Sunday offers the stage for Dorgu to announce himself as a United fan favourite by helping his side claim a famous victory.
