From Heroics to Heartbreak: £46m Man Utd man could be brutally dropped by Amorim for Liverpool clash

0 7

Manchester United face a daunting trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

Manager Ruben Amorim faces a selection dilemma, with several tough calls to make in his starting XI.

Amad Diallo has started in five of the last six Premier League games, missing only the Brentford clash due to personal reasons.

The Ivorian finally burst into life on international duty, recording his first goal and assist of the 2025–26 campaign in Ivory Coast’s emphatic 3–0 win over Kenya.

Diallo made a darting run down the right flank before cutting inside in his trademark style to set up an easy goal for Franck Kessie.

He nearly found the net himself in the first half, only to be denied by a goal-line clearance from a desperate Kenyan defender.

His persistence paid off late in the game, as he finally found his elusive goal in the 85th minute.

Diallo stepped up confidently to take a free-kick from the edge of the box, curling a sumptuous left-footed strike past the goalkeeper.

These two key contributions will have boosted Diallo’s confidence.

However, there is no certainty over whether he will retain his starting position against the Reds.

There is a high chance that Amorim will opt for safety rather than adventure in the first half.

Diogo Dalot could take his position in the right wing-back spot.

Noussair Mazraoui is also expected to make his return from an undisclosed injury on Sunday.

He could also be used in a similar role, with Dalot keeping his place on the opposite flank.

Diallo could be used as an impact substitute in the second half, when United need more intensity to fight against a strong Liverpool side.

We personally want the £46 million-rated star to start and wreak havoc on the right flank alongside Bryan Mbeumo.

United must be fearless, taking the game to Liverpool and exploiting the cracks in their midfield and backline rather than sitting deep.
