NFL Legend Puts Patriots In Surprising Spot After Week 6
Many people around the NFL are taking notice of the Patriots’ hot start. Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees thinks New England is currently one of the top five teams in the league.
Brees put the Patriots in the No. 5 spot in his NFL power rankings during ESPN’s “First Take” Tuesday morning.
“I love the way Drake Maye is playing, Brees said. “Mike Vrabel has these guys going. These guys are a big-play offense. You turn on the tape, they are under center as much as anybody in the league right now. Run the football, play action, he’s launching it down the field. I love watching these guys play.”
New England has certainly been an uplifting story this season, as the team has showcased an impressive start under Vrabel’s leadership in his first year as head coach, while Maye is only in his second season.
The Patriots definitely opened many people’s eyes in Week 5 when they traveled to Buffalo and knocked off the undefeated Bills. New England transformed from a possible eight-win team into a likely playoff contender or even an AFC East champion after its statement win over Buffalo.
Brees ranks the Patriots as his second-best team in the AFC, placing the Indianapolis Colts at the top of the conference.
The Patriots will face a struggling Tennessee Titans team on Sunday, which recently parted ways with head coach Brian Callahan. New England could be in a prime position to secure its fourth consecutive victory.
