Patriots Continue 2025 Revival With Week 6 Win Over Saints

The New England Patriots already reached a milestone three months sooner than last season.

New England improved to 4-2 with Sunday’s 25-19 victory over the New Orleans Saints. The Patriots matched their win total from each of the last two seasons, and their fourth win of the 2024 campaign didn’t come until Week 18.

This marks the franchise’s best start since beginning 8-0 in Tom Brady’s final season with the Patriots in 2019. If they keep up this play, they could produce their first winning record and playoff appearance since 2021.

The Patriots also secured their first three-game winning streak since winning seven straight in 2021. Drake Maye led the way with another sharp outing, completing 18 of 26 passes for 261 yards and three touchdowns.

Two offensive pass interference calls offset completions of 113 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown pass to DeMario Douglas in the first quarter. However, Maye had previously linked with Douglas for a 53-yard touchdown during the game’s opening drive.

Kayshon Boutte caught all five of his targets for 93 yards and two touchdowns. The aerial game produced enough fireworks to counteract another quiet ground game in which the Patriots averaged 2.4 yards per carry.

Mike Vrabel has overseen a rapid turnaround, but the head coach tempered his excitement after watching the Patriots move to 3-0 in away games this season.

“Glimpses of good football,” Vrabel said in Sunday’s post-game press conference. “We’ll have to clean up a lot of things, but certainly great to go on the road and be able to get a win.”

The Patriots can extend their winning streak when they stay on the road to play Vrabel’s former team, the Tennessee Titans, in Week 7.
