Glenn Hoddle reveals why Tottenham fans should be positive about Bodo/Glimt draw
Glenn Hoddle has made a very interesting claim about Tottenham after the North Londoners salvaged a 2-2 draw against Bodo/Glimt.
If Tottenham players were expecting an easy night near the Arctic Circle, they would have been disabused of that notion within the first 20 minutes of the game.
Bodo/Glimt started on the front foot, taking the game to Spurs, and the Premier League side had very few answers in the first half.
The home side scored two goals at the start of the second period, leaving Tottenham on the cusp of their first Champions League defeat of the season, but the Lilywhites fought back admirably to salvage a point.
Glenn Hoddle claims Tottenham can take positives from Bodo/Glimt draw
Spurs’ slow start to the game and their lacklustre showing in attack in the first half will be concerning to Tottenham fans, especially on the back of their poor display against Wolves on Saturday.
However, Hoddle insisted that not playing at your best and still coming away with a point from an away Champions League fixture is a mark of a good team.
The Tottenham legend told TNT Sports 2 (30/9/25 – 22:16): “Tonight Tottenham came second best in a lot of areas on the pitch, but at the end of the day, when you play like that, it’s a great point to pick up away from home. That shows you the strength of Tottenham now, they can play resiliently and still pick up a point.
“What Spurs fans will be looking at is that last year, if they performed average and were too easy to play against, they would lose 2-0 or 3-0.
You can’t outplay teams every week for 90 minutes and outscore them, to be consistent you have to stick in there.
“They did not look vulnerable defensively apart from the self-inflicted errors. This is a good result to hang your hat on. They don’t have to play well every week, but they can get a result.”
Spurs’ performances will have to improve
One can argue that at this stage of the season, the performances are as important as results, and there are understandable concerns among the Tottenham fan base over the lack of attacking impetus.
Expect a couple of games this season, the Lilywhites have struggled to break down opposition sides and fashion opportunities.
However, Frank remains confident that Tottenham’s attack will click into gear soon, and it will be harsh to judge the Dane too quickly, given that he took over a side short of confidence and has implemented a completely different tactical approach.
