Gasperini claims Roma stars Dybala and Bailey out until October international break
Gian Piero Gasperini has confirmed that Roma stars Paulo Dybala and summer signing Leon Bailey are likely to be out of action until the October international break as their ongoing injury issues continue.
Gasperini issues injury update on Dybala and Bailey
Gasperini gave a brief, but clear response when asked about the conditions of Dybala and Bailey during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Europa League clash between OGC Nice and Roma on Wednesday night.
“We’ll see them after the international break. Before, I don’t think so,” Gasperini told reporters on Tuesday evening.
Dybala picked up a low-grade muscle strain in his thigh during his first Serie A start of the season, which ended in a 1-0 defeat against Torino earlier this month.
Gasperini initially claimed that La Joya ‘has a little problem’, but that problem is proving to be a little more severe than first thought. As things stand, Dybala is training individually on a separate pitch to the rest of the Giallorossi squad, and could now miss Roma’s upcoming matches against Nice, Hellas Verona, Lille and Fiorentina.
Bailey, meanwhile, has not featured for Roma since completing his move from Aston Villa during the summer transfer window.
The Jamaica international was injured almost immediately during his first training session with Roma, which was initially expected to rule him out for around four weeks, although the lay-off could be closer to two months if Gasperini’s diagnosis is accurate.
