A nice week to reflect on a decent win vs struggling Wolves.
3 goals, first goals for Stach, Calvert-Lewin and Okafor gives renewed hope in our goalscoring prowess.
And most importantly 3 points which currently sees us on 7 points from 5 games.
A decent start points wise.
And atleast an indication we can be competitive to a degree
However tougher times are ahead, starting next weekend.
We welcome 4th place Bournemouth to Elland Road.
In a different timeline we could be lauding the Bournemouth boss as was a time Iraola looked like becoming our manager.
Wasn't to be and Bournemouth have benefited from the Bielsa disciple and his high intensity style.
A 9th place finish last season and improvement so far this season for the South Coast side.
Wins vs Brighton and Tottenham as well as giving League Champions Liverpool a scare on matchday 1 shows the credentials they have.
All the more impressive given they sold basically their entire defence in the summer.
Tactically they are as close as you get to a Bielsa side.
4-2-3-1 formation, full backs pressed high, pitch made as wide as possible and lots of positional rotation.
In attack they focus on quick, sharp and smooth passing sequences with a focus on ball progression over ball possession.
Defensively it's narrow but with a very intense press which can be man to man.
It's BielsaBall basically.
They are statistically the best pressing team in the league.
But as all Bielsa inspired teams can be they can be vulnerable because of it, but it's no easy feat to get through the press.
For those analysis people they are performing very well and should be 2nd in the league based on the data.
Key players.
Former Bristol City wonderkid Antoine Semenyo is a powerful, direct attacking player for them and already has 3 goals and 2 assists in the league from the wing.
Experienced defender Marcos Senesi is a big and strong cb very well drilled in his responsibility at the heart of the Bournemouth defence.
And USMNT Captain and all round Judas Tyler Adams has become a key player for Andoni Iraola with his workrate and pressing abilities.
A very well drilled side but one that can be got at if you get your tactics right.
From our point of view tactics could be crucial.
Going over the press in to Calvert-Lewin would seem the best option.
Do we need to get Tanaka back in as he could be best positioned to support DCL? An isolated striker is no good.
If Gnonto or James are fit do they come in?
Bogle could be out so Justin in or the Experienced Byram?
Despite the positives vs Wolves Darlow had to make good saves and we didn't create great chances (good finishes) so is that a concern or do you just take the points and move on?
Would you take a draw today for the game if you could?
