Sky Sports pundit blown away by Man United man who delivered 9/10 display vs Chelsea

Manchester United got themselves back on track with a hard-fought 2-1 Premier League victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The clash was fiery from the outset, with Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez shown a straight red card just five minutes in.

Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro put United ahead, making the numerical advantage count before the Brazilian was sent off just before the break.

Trevoh Chalobah scored a late consolation goal for the Blues.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp praised club captain Bruno Fernandes for his important role in winning three crucial points.

He said: “Bruno Fernandes was magnificent, second half especially. He carried the fight.

“It feels like a big occasion but they’ve got to build on it. They’ve got to go and win two, three, four games.”

Fernandes was United’s best performer

The 31-year-old earned a glowing 9/10 in our post-match player ratings, matched only by defender Matthijs de Ligt.

With Chelsea reduced to 10 men for much of the first half, Fernandes roamed forward freely from midfield to join the attack.

The midfield maestro timed his run to perfection to score the opening goal.

He stretched to meet Patrick Dorgu’s header before slotting it past Jorgensen from close range.

With Casemiro sent off and Benjamin Sesko replaced by Manuel Ugarte, Fernandes took on the dual role of midfielder and attacker.

At times, he was the furthest man forward, spearheading United’s attacks.

Late in the game, he won the ball back from Reece James in midfield.

He powered past Chelsea players and unleashed a thunderous long-range strike, forcing Chelsea’s substitute goalkeeper into a superb diving save to his right.

The skipper has finally stepped up for United this season. He badly needed that performance.
